Mount Pleasant, MI – Things were going good but they could always be going better. Especially with all this snow and sleet and dark black winter nights. I was just praying for a little bit of light when I found the coming attractions in my mailbox last December. I opened up a full color brochure from Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort and found an ad for The Blues Brothers. This was the big break that I had been looking for. I needed a dose of Chicago without actually going to Chicago.

Instead of going all the way up to the Windy City and getting a hotel and blowing a bunch of loot the party was coming home to me. Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi was bringing a full band to two different spots, Windsor Caeser’s Casino, and Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort up in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Jim Belushi has been playing with a band called Zee Blues. They also tour with the Sacred Heart Band. A lot has happened since those magical days of 1978 to the present including two full length feature motion pictures and a play.

So I made up my mind that I’m going no matter what. I used to live in Chicago and there is nothing that can replace those wild nights. In fact, I am pretty sure when I am real quiet my ears are still ringing. Nothing was going to talk me out of going and I even dressed the part. Now keep the laughter to a minimum and take a note of my stylish hat and fancy new threads. My girlfriend’s brother scoffed at me and mumbled something like, “Oh the Blues Brothers… I’m way over them”. Well that’s fine and dandy but don’t ruin it for the rest of us!

How could I turn down a second time of seeing the World Famous Blues Brothers? This was the band that could turn goat piss into gasoline! We even had two original members – the amazing Steve Cropper, and the fabulous Lou Marini. So you see, it’s a no brainer. Who wants to stay home and eat soup when they could be taking in full charged rhythm and blues? I was planning on scarfing down a plate of buffalo chicken wings too in honor of the late Jake Blues.

Who could resist. I made a party out of it. I decided to hook up with my own Blues Brothers namely, Jeff Blues and Brother Nicky. Here is are some pictures of us taking it all in.
